Privacy Policy
This website is operated by Braw Data Ltd, which is the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law. This policy explains what the site collects, and what it does not.
This site sets no cookies
This website does not set cookies. There is no advertising, no comment system, and no third-party tracking of individuals. There is nothing here to consent to and nothing to opt out of.
Analytics
To understand how the site is used, we use GoatCounter, a privacy-focused analytics service. GoatCounter is cookieless and does not identify individual visitors. It records aggregate information only:
- the page visited, with the date and time
- the referring site, if you arrived by following a link
- your approximate country
- your browser, operating system, and screen size
GoatCounter does not retain your IP address or your browser’s User-Agent string. These are used to derive the aggregate figures above and are then discarded. The resulting statistics show totals such as “40 visitors used Firefox today” — never information about an identifiable person, and never a profile of any individual’s activity across pages.
We also count when a link to one of our datasets is clicked, so we can tell which datasets are of most interest. This records the name of the dataset only, and nothing about you.
The lawful basis for this processing is legitimate interest: understanding which parts of the site and which datasets are useful, so that we can maintain and improve them. Because the processing does not identify anyone, this is balanced against a minimal privacy impact.
GoatCounter’s own privacy policy is at goatcounter.com/help/privacy.
Downloads and hosting
Our datasets are hosted on GitHub. When you follow a download link you leave this site, and your request is handled by GitHub under GitHub’s privacy statement. We can see that a download link was clicked; we cannot see what happens after that.
This site is itself published using GitHub Pages, so GitHub serves these pages to you and may log technical information about your request, including your IP address, as part of operating that service. That logging is GitHub’s, not ours, and we do not have access to it.
Your rights
Because we do not collect information that identifies you, we hold no personal data about you to access, correct, or erase. If you have contacted us by email, that correspondence is held by Braw Data Ltd and you may ask us about it using the address below.
